PAC Dog Training Collars
PAC dog has a range of dog training collars, to help keep your dog and others safe while you are training them to run off lead. These collars have a choice of different deterrents, ranging from warning tones, vibrations, to small electric shocks, which you can set at a level that works for your dog. The aim is to use the collar, in combination with your voice, to train your dog to behave in the desired way and to return to you when you call them (with lots of praise). The collars do not hot hurt dogs and are safe - in fact they are designed to let your dog enjoy the freedom of being off lead, while staying safe themselves, and not hurting other animals.
The system comes with a controller, which you hold, and one collar that goes around your dogs neck. You can purchase additional collars that can work from the same controller (see details below for each kit).
PAC dog training systems are ideal for the all types of persistent problems:
- Dogs running away, or being wilfully ‘deaf’ to recall
- Jumping up on people or stealing food
- Dogs being over-enthusiastic, barking at people or other dogs
- Chasing cars, joggers, walkers, cyclists, postmen etc.
- Dogs pulling on the lead
- Gun dogs ‘running’ in or being over-enthusiastic.
- Protecting other animals from your dog
When selecting the right training collar for your dog, you need to consider what range would work for you (from 750m up to 3 km), if you want to have the electric shock option on your dog's collar and how many dogs you may want working from one controller. Help! how do I know which kit is best suited to my dog?
Do you want to give your dog and electric shock or just a big vibration? The Buzz kits don't give a shock - they just use strong vibration and a pre-warning tone. The other kits have the option of giving a small (safe) electric shock to train your dog.
How much range do you need? EXT+ has a much longer range. (1km versus 3km). EXT+ also has programmable stimulus buttons low, medium and high (you can set the level between 0-60 to one that is appropriate for you dog in advance and save it - 3 different levels can be saved). With the nDXT+ systems, you have a rotary dial to select the level and change it as you go - but you cannot pre-programme your favourite levels.
PAC Mini has 750m range and is suitable for miniature/small dogs.
How many dogs are you training? EXT 2+ (Entry level) is capable of having two dogs running off the Controller. EXT 6+ can have up to 6 dogs. With the n DXT+ it is three dogs.
What We Think: If you are training a dog, or have a 'spirited' dog (translate this to naughty, if you wish) and want them to have the joy of running off lead, this is a great tool. It keeps your dog safe, other animals safe, and ultimately trains them so, in time, you may not need the collar at all (that's the aim!). The collar won't hurt your dog - it just gives them a warning shock that is unpleasant - a bit like an electric shock from a car. You can control the level of stimulus. You can use these in the garden too - if you want to train your dog to stop braking and make your neighbours happy!
